January 2024: Hip Hop Means Business

Music: unlike most genres, hip hop is often about money. Last August, I already explored their views about tax (https://lnkd.in/eG-75VEAhttps://lnkd.in/eG-75VEA). This month, I’ve strung together a series of tracks of hip hop business advice (https://lnkd.in/erxExztX). While you listen to all this, you can pretend that this is all really about the complicated tax analysis or spreadsheet you’re working on.

First off, Cash Rules Everything Around Me (Wu Tang Clan), which means all they ever wanted was your Bank Rolls (Tate Kobang). It’s about Cash In Cash Out (Pharell Williams), a Paperwork Party (Babyface Ray), becoming an LLC (Money Man), ensuring you Get Paid (Double S) and Paid In Full (Eric B. & Rakin). Put differently: if it don’t make Dollaz, it don’t make Sense (DJ Quik). So, just be Top Billin (Audio Two), Rake It Up (Yo Gotti) and Spend Sum Cash (LightSkinKeisha). By then, you can do a Takeover (Jay-Z) which is a Fair Trade (Drake) only if it’s on My Terms (DaniLeigh). In the end, you get a Whole Lotta Money (BIA), even if Money Ain’t A Thang (Jermaine Dupri).

So, in short: hip hop means business.

About Me

I am Leonard, an experienced M&A Tax and International Tax expert. I write about tax on LinkedIn and Twitter sometimes (but mostly LinkedIn). People liked the posts, but there were too many of them to keep track of. So, now they are on a blog for future reference.
